Calling all Tennis Fans
Whether you are a beginner, a Club Player, an international, a parent or support our game as a coach, administrator or as a volunteer, Tennis Ireland is looking for your help. Tennis Ireland is building a 4 year strategy that will meet the needs of existing players at all levels in reaching their potential, and building the profile of tennis in Ireland so we can attract others to participate and enjoy our game. The plan will provide a roadmap that will help Clubs, Coaches, Provinces and our Performance Players, whilst allowing us to partner successfully with others supporting the game such as, but not limited to, the Dublin Lawn Tennis Council and the Parks Tennis Organisation. How can you get involved? Tennis Ireland have put together a steering team, representative of every aspect of the sport, for the project who have designed a consultation framework that allows people to get involved in several ways: Firstly, we have scheduled a series of workshops around the country to meet and gather the ideas and aspirations of people who are involved in tennis at all levels, these meetings will be facilitated by Pinta Consulting, to capture the best ideas as to how we can grow and improve the experience of tennis at all levels. The meetings will be two hours in duration and are designed so that we can listen to all the diverse voices of tennis. The schedule and location of these meetings are as follows: 21st September - North Dublin - Crowne Plaza, Santry (Dublin Airport) 7pm-9pm 26th September - Cork - Firgrove Hotel, Mitchelstown 7pm-9pm 28th September - Belfast - Crowne Plaza, Shaw’s Bridge, Belfast 7pm-9pm 2nd October - South Dublin - Clayton, Leopardstown 7pm-9pm 3rd October - Claremorris - McWilliam Park, Claremorris 7pm-9pm 5th October - Naas - Osprey Hotel, Naas 7pm-9pm We would really ask that you come along, if you can. Pictured is Andrew Jones, of Bluebird Care, and Shane Cooke, President of Munster Tennis, ahead of the Young Seniors Interprovincial Championships being hosted by Belfast Boat Club, proudly displaying the official squad kit provided by Joma & Teamwear Ireland which features the distinctive corporate logo of Bluebird Care. The Young Seniors Munster Tennis Squad set off for Belfast this weekend to take part in the three day Interprovincial Tournament at the prestigious Belfast Boat Club on the banks of the River Lagan, and will be looking resplendent in their purpose made Joma branded tennis wear thanks to the generous support of Bluebird Care. Commenting on an arrangement that will see the distinctive vivid Bluebird Care logo proudly adorned on the left sleeve of all our players’ Joma kit at the weekend, Munster Tennis’ Commercial Advisor, Kevin Mullen, enthused “Andrew Jones (MD of Bluebird Care, Tipperary and East Cork) kindly stepped forward to offer his backing to the Young Seniors ahead of a tournament he will actually be featuring in as a valued member of the Mens 35 team. We thank him sincerely for his generous support in what we hope will be a very memorable weekend for all concerned with Munster Tennis”. An opportunity to cement his loyal backing to his very own squad is not something Limerick Lawn Tennis Club member Andrew could decline easily, and commenting after the official kit handover to President Shane Cooke, Andrew proudly said “As a strong supporter of Munster and Irish tennis and as a player now for over 25 years, it is my pleasure to have Bluebird Care associated with this team. I look forward to the team having a very successful weekend in Belfast and on behalf of Bluebird Care and all our staff, we wish them the best of luck representing their Province.” FURTHER INFORMATION

This tournament, contested by knock-out matchplay, is always tough, highly competitive and exciting from the first ball hit on start date to the last on Finals Day. The weekly "buzz" created by the results was heightened this year by their easy availability on the new League Software on the Munster Branch website. The teams from all over Munster who battled through to the Finals of 2017 treated the large crowd of supporters and spectators to quality, high standard, thrilling tennis in every grade; 1 through to 6. All results can be found on here . That scorelines in tennis do not always reflect the play was certainly proven on Sunday with nerve-jingling finishes to all matches being the order of the day. Munster Branch extend Congratulations and WELL PLAYED to all players, Winners and Runners-up, in every grade and would like to acknowledge the exemplary sportsmanship shown throughout the day. Many thanks to our Principal Event Partners, Walsh's Carpets, and also to sponsors Keanes Jewellers (for their continued generous support of the Ladies Grade 4 event) and Sunday's Well for their warm welcome to us all, for the use of their excellent clubhouse and facilities and for keeping us fed and watered throughout the day! Lastly, it has to be said that the weather was "reasonably" kind to us. A Great Day had by all! Go to Munster Tennis Facebook page to see photos of the Finals. +40 What an amazing few days we have had in Rushbrooke for this year's Junior Interprovincials.
Starting off on Tuesday with the Under 18 event we had Leinster blazing a trail to the title but we were entertained with great tennis over the three sessions. On Wednesday we started the Under 14 event and Munster finished deserving winners at the end of play today. The final day on Thursday saw some of the best action seen for many a year with some spectacular matches both in the morning and afternoon sessions. Congratulations to all the players who showed remarkable sportmanship throughout the three days and it was fantastic to see all the players from the provinces mixing and getting on so well with each other. Thank you to the captains, mentors and all the supporters who attended the event. To the different sponsors on our side we would like to thank Harbour Browns Steak house in Cobh for the fantastic gear for both our junior teams and also our Senior team. Thank you to FDC Group who sponsor our senior performance squad which provided many of the players to the winning team, thank you to C&C Group for the bottled water for the players for the event and also to some of the local businesses who provided minerals and fruit. Thank you to Colm and Emma Mc Donagh for the great coverage on our social outlets and especially for the many great pictures that captured the action throughout the event. This year we decided to see if we could try and raise the profile of the event a little bit with a few new ideas. We produced many photographs and tried to cover each and every player that they might have something to look back on, we streamed live some of the action and also streamed the two presentations live. Finally, we decided to present each player with a medal as recognition of their participation and it was great to hear the captains call out their players and to be presented by Tennis Ireland President Mr Clifford Carroll. Hopefully this might be something other provinces might continue as it's the players that make the event that it is and it's a nice gesture which all the captains and players were really delighted with. Finally a word about Rushbrooke, a really spectacular setting for such an event. Thank you for use of your magnificent facility. Well done to Eddie Ronayne and the rest of the team Robyn, Maggie, Paul & Martin who showed how it should be done. Well done to the bar staff of Rushbrooke who tirelessly looked after all the players with food and drink over three tough days. Thank you all for making this a great event in 2017.
