Munster Senior Open Events & World tennis Number in 2023
A Chairde,
For some time the ITF International Tennis Federation & Tennis Ireland have been rolling out the new WTN international player rating for all players. It is a hugely important development for Tennis.
Munster Tennis fully supports this and we are looking to the future and a time when we can use it for Player Rating (Grading) for all the open Tournaments.
For this year we would like clubs to add in the WTN Bands in brackets to the name of their events on Tournament Software using the draft WTN Band Mapping diagram. To see a good example of this please look at the Munster Tennis Winter League Phase II.
Here we have added in the future WTN Bands that may relate to the different Player Grades (or Rating) in the Munster League and the Player Directory. This is for information only but players should monitor their number as it changes when they play matches during the year. Munster Tennis will be monitoring the WTN throughout the year as over time we will transition to it (when the time is right). The more matches you play the more accurate it is. If you win against a stronger opponent your number gets better (lower) if you lose against a weaker opponent it will get worse (higher).
For doubles and mixed the strength of your partner is also taken into account as well as the strength of your opponents.
See information brochure via the button above, a You Tube Video Here and also the main World Tennis Number Website Here.
