Junior SENIORS & Super SENIORS Inter Provincial Teams Selection Criteria
The Irish Veteran (SENIORS) Player Ranking System will be used as the basis for all team selections. The top 3 (or top 4 in the case of the Super Seniors over 55 and up) Munster male & female players in each applicable age category with an ITN of 5 or higher will be automatically selected for the Inter-provincial team.
Therefore players who do not participate in at least 1 Veteran (Seniors) tournament sanctioned by Tennis Ireland in the previous 12 month period cannot be considered for selection under any circumstances.
THE CALENDARS
The Calendar in respect of the Junior Veterans (Seniors) commences in first week of June each year after the Veterans Irish Open.
The Calendar for the Super Veterans (Super Seniors) commences in March each year after the Irish National Veterans Indoor Open Championships and the South East of Ireland Veterans Open in Waterford.
POINTS
Points are only awarded to Players who are registered and have a valid Tennis Ireland PIN.
Points under the ranking system are only awarded once a player wins a match.
To receive ranking points in a singles or doubles tournament, a player must reach a round where points are available. The number of points available varies depending upon the grading/level of the tournament and the round reached.
YOUNG SENIORS / SENIORS:
The best four results (Singles and/or Doubles) in the previous 12 month period in Veterans tournaments sanctioned by Tennis Ireland and/or international tournaments sanctioned by the ITF are taken into consideration for the final team selections.
Note that Doubles Points are multiplied by 0.7 for the purposes of Team selections.
No other results will be considered for Team Selections.
SUPER SENIORS:
The best four results (Singles, Doubles and/or Mixed) in the previous 12 month period in Veterans tournaments sanctioned by Tennis Ireland and/or international tournaments sanctioned by the ITF are taken into consideration for the final team selections.
Note that Doubles/Mixed Points are multiplied by 0.7 for the purposes of Team selections.
No other results will be considered for Team Selections.
Should this fail to fill teams then participation in higher ranked events will also also be considered as a criteria for selection.
At least 2 of a players best four results in must be within Ireland.
If two or more players have equal points, players are ranked based on the grading of tournaments where points have been won followed by the players next best result if there is still a tie.
All players moving to an older age category take all their ranking points with them.
Walkovers count as a match won. (Only once a player has won a match).
Byes do not count as a match won.
If a tournament is abandoned, players will receive points for the round reached up to that point. Should any age category in a tournament be amalgamated with a lower age category event, and players in the higher age category are forced to play down, then those players shall be awarded points in his/her own age category.
All above based on ITF procedures.
